| First Live Video Broadcast Technology
from a Mobile Device Unveiled at DEMOfall |
| ComVu makes live video broadcasting from
the palm of your hand, easy and inexpensive |
| Huntington Beach, CA - September 19, 2005 - ComVu,
a developer of innovative software and automated video delivery
technologies, today showcases its consumer mobile broadcasting
service at DEMOfall, the annual conference that focuses on emerging
technologies and new products. ComVu is first to offer mobile
users the ability to transmit live video broadcasts of any length
and to any size audience easily and inexpensively using ComVu's
"do-it-yourself" video network. |
| ComVu sits at the forefront of converging developments in
wireless and entertainment, where mobile phones are gaining
high-end cameras and powerful processors, and where everyday
people are creating and sharing their own content. "The ability
for anyone with a camera phone to broadcast events as they happen,
direct to viewers, will impact people around the world," says
William Mutual, CEO ComVu. "CNN is already promoting its citizen
reported media; it's only a matter of time before all newspapers
and broadcasters will seamlessly tap into the 'on the spot'
video feeds streamed live from camera phone users-this is exactly
the capability ComVu enables." |
| According to ABI Research, camera phones will steal the low-end
digital camera market within two years. The research group says
the typical 1.3 megapixel camera phone will be ubiquitous and
5 megapixel models will not be uncommon. "While many firms are
focused on broadcasting pre-packaged content to mobile users,
ComVu turns the lens around and enables users to transmit their
own content," says Chris Shipley, executive producer of the
DEMO conferences. "This is tremendously useful technology with
countless applications for live video broadcasts in the consumer
and enterprise sectors. As new high-end camera phones roll out,
ComVu will become a 'must-have' application." |
| With the push of a button on a camera phone bloggers, citizen
reporters, family members, friends and corporate professionals
can broadcast live events to their communities that can then
watch the live feed on mobile devices or PCs with Windows Media
compatible players. In creating a live mobile broadcasting solution,
ComVu has pioneered two fields: transmission from a mobile device
and ''do-it-yourself' video network. ComVu's mobile service
integrates the following key components: "one button" live video
streaming capabilities, video archiving on ComVu's servers,
and a personal broadcast page directly accessed by viewers.
|
Key service features include:
- Instant notification to groups of contacts (family, friends,
colleagues) via SMS, IM or email;
- Inclusion of tags and other video information to help
categorize and search for videos;
- Capture geo-position data in video stream to allow viewers
to locate transmission point on map;
- Immediate posting of video to a blog.
|

| ComVu is currently available in beta release for any Windows
Mobile 5 device, as well as the AXIA A108 PDA phone, ASUS 730W
PDA and Windows PocketPC XScale devices with VEO SD camera.
