| 1. What is GPS? |
| |
GPS stands for Global Positioning System. It is a system that relies
on satellites to accurately determine your position. For more information
go to www.gpsworld.com. |
| 2. How does GPS work with Livecast? |
| |
If your PDA or Smartphone has a built-in GPS, you can decide if
you want the position of the broadcast to be available to viewers.
The GPS data is dynamically tracked and embedded in the livecast
stream.
If your mobile device does not have built-in GPS abilities, you
can use a handheld or Bluetooth unit. Connect it to your mobile
device. Select the appropriate com port from the SETTINGS screen.
|
| 3. What are the GPS icons in Livecast
mean? |
| |
The GPS icons indicate the status of your GPS connectivity. GPS
receivers are subject to connectivity issues similar to cell phones
and generally work better outside with a clear path to satellites.
You may find that you can livecast fine, but the GPS receiver
cannot maintain a stable signal.
|
| 4. How is GPS data displayed? |
| |
When the viewer(s) watch the livecast, either live or on-demand, they
will see a dynamic satellite image beside the media
window. Waypoints or GPS data are shown as a blue dot (or a blue
line if tracked by GPS) in the satellite image. GPS data in text
form is available in Video Information.
|
| 5. How can GPS data be used? |
| |
The GPS co-ordinates can be input into various online mapping services
such as Google Earth. This will allow accurate location of the livecast
point.
Let your viewers see where you are livecasting from. Use this feature
for directions, legal matters and much more.
|
| 6. Can I add GPS co-ordinates
at a later date? |
| |
No. GPS data is embedded in the livecast and is non -editable.
This is what makes it appropriate in legal usage. You can, however,
add or edit a Waypoint to an existing video.
|
| 7. What are Waypoints? |
| |
Waypoints are simply geographic tags associated with a livecast. They
can be either continents, countries, cities or even neighborhoods.
Waypoints can be input during the livecast, or afterwards.
During Livecast:
Go to SETTINGS screen, change Location selector to Waypoints. Go to
the Livecast screen and select waypoint.
After Livecast (from online PC):
Sign in at www.livecast.com. From MY VIDEO, click the EDIT link of
the desired livecast. Choose your desired waypoint from the waypoint
selector. Waypoints are selectable starting at a continental level.
Successive selection will allow finer detail of the waypoint.
|
| 8. What is a Geotagged livecast? |
| |
Geotagged streaming is one of coolest features available with
Livecast. If Waypoints or GPS data is enabled on the broadcast,
PC viewers can watch two screens simultaneously - one with the video,
the other with mapping displaying the precise location of the
livecast. This functions dynamically, so if the video is moving
(for example streaming from a car), then the position is dynamically tracked.
|
| 9. Do I have to install other
software to enable Geotagging? |
| |
No. Mapping should run without additional software
installation.
